Arc Eternal Introduction:
Creeper World stands as a real-time strategy tower defense video game created by Knuckle Cracker. The central challenge involves fending off the relentless advance of the titular blue "creeper" substance, which surges across the field of play, aiming to obliterate the core headquarters known as Odin City.
The franchise expanded through two subsequent additions. Firstly, Creeper World: Evermore emerged, introducing procedurally generated maps that change daily. The second expansion, Creeper World: User Space, features updated visuals and a collection of 14 fan-designed maps curated by the original developers.
Gameplay:
Creeper World masterfully blends elements of real-time strategy with tower defense, offering a unique twist where there exists a sole adversary that cannot be eradicated but only repelled. Gamers grapple with a bluish-purple entity dubbed the "Creeper," responsible for decimating humanity and now assaulting Odin City, humanity's last refuge. The strategy necessitates the placement of towers on the battlefield to engage the Creeper. The principal objective is to link the player's base with energy totems by employing energy collectors and relays, which triggers the activation of a jump gate, allowing Odin City to escape to new planets and evade the Creeper's clutches once more.
Odin City generates units for Creeper confrontation. Energy collectors, set up by the player, gather the necessary power to fuel these units' weaponry. These collectors need adequate space to harvest energy and require connection to the city's network. If the Creeper isolates a collector, it becomes inactive until reconnected to the network for energy provision. Keeping tabs on energy production and consumption is vital; a consumption surplus leads to slower weapon recharging. The game world varies in terrain elevation, with the Creeper spreading swiftly in low-lying areas and gradually ascending like a liquid. Players can design bottlenecks to hinder its advancement. Blaster units target the Creeper within their line of sight but can't reach higher terrain, whereas mortars bombard denser Creeper patches and elevated ground. As the game progresses, players can acquire nodes to enhance their systems, with six upgrade options available - three for energy efficiency and three for weapon capability.
The series' second installment, Creeper World 2: Redemption, arrived on May 16, 2011. It introduced novel weaponry and a distinctive perspective, fundamentally altering gameplay. Creeper World 2 adopts a cross-sectional view instead of the previous top-down vantage. This game also introduces nullifiers, enabling Creeper generator destruction, a primary mission objective. The energy system underwent a revamp, replacing collectors with energy-producing reactors that release energy packets to construct structures and power weapons. The Liberation Ship comes with a 12.5 packet range, extendable via beacons. Packets are vulnerable to destruction upon contact with the Creeper. An upgrade system enhances unit effectiveness, alongside new weapons, pickups, and a ground-digging mechanism. The concept of anti-creeper is introduced; players use ore rigs to extract ore deposits, producing anti-creeper through a "maker" unit. When anti-creeper meets Creeper, both substances vanish. Drones, a new enemy, can swiftly demolish structures. Spores are reintroduced as phantoms, targeting random structures and transforming into liquid Creeper. Phantom Coils replace SAMs.
Final Words:
The third release, Creeper World 3: Arc Eternal, launched on October 4, 2013, harkening back to the original Creeper World. The top-down view returns, with collectors requiring space for energy generation and connections to command nodes. Features from the second installment endure, such as the ability to destroy Creeper emitters, deploy anticreeper via sprayers and bombers, and a technology upgrade system with differences. Arc Eternal missions chiefly entail destroying emitters and Creeper devices. Odin City is replaced by Command Nodes, enabling multi-front assaults. Players can terraform using a terraform processing node (TERP), altering ground elevation. Expanded maps accommodate grand battles and necessitate a zoom mechanic. Aircraft play a new role, allowing energy transfer and airstrikes, while siege weapons like artillery and space battlecruisers join the arsenal.
On May 22, 2014, Creeper World 3: Abraxis, a browser-based minigame, launched with 12 prequel missions. It operates through the Unity browser plugin.
